The technical programs in the Advanced Information Technology Branch include Modeling and Simulation, Decision Support, Virtual and Augmented Reality, and Collaborative Environments. Research in Code 5580 is aimed at developing and implementing cutting edge hardware and software solutions for Navy problems in a number of application areas. The programs the Branch support include some basic research, a substantial exploratory development program, and a continuing effort to field technology through a succession of advanced technology demonstrations. The Branch draws on expertise in computer science, mathematics, operations research, electrical engineering and physics.
